Food Industry COVID-19 Virtual Office Hours: Observations from the Field

COVID-19 Food Industry

The New York Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence and the Institute for Food Safety at Cornell University are hosting a special session of Virtual Office Hours on Observations from the Field. The first half of office hours will provide an overview of firsthand observations and lessons learned from the field about the main issues related to COVID-19 in food retail establishments, food and dairy processing facilities, and on the farm. Topics addressed will range from implementing COVID-19 mitigation controls to following up with positive cases in the workforce. After this overview, we will host a facilitated Q & A to address questions from the food industry on COVID-19.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly to subject matter experts in sanitation, epidemiology, microbiology, virology, food safety culture, and the food safety of dairy foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and processed foods and beverages. Representatives from New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (NYSDAM), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) will present and address questions. They will be joined during the Q & A by subject matter experts from Cornell University (Dr. Sam Alcaine, Dr. Aljosa Trmcic, Dr. Martin Wiedmann), Ecolab, Inc. (Dr. Ruth Petran) and the University of Delaware (Dr. Kalmia Kniel).

This event is free and open to anyone in the food industry from farm to fork. Registration is required.
